I've been trying various browsers over the past 6 weeks or so.  I've used Firefox for four years now, since it was named Phoenix, then later Firebird, then later Firefox.  I've enjoyed the run, but I was starting to desire a bit of a change.  Firefox doesn't look as good as the rest of my Gnome desktop, and trying to make

Over the past few weeks, I've been trying browser options beyond Firefox.  I've really enjoyed using the GTK-native browsers Epiphany and Galeon.  They are fast, both in loading and rendering pages.  But, the biggest issue I had is that 64 bit builds of these browsers can't use 32 bit plugins.  And Flash 9 is only available in its 32 bit version.  It's pretty hard to use the web these days without Flash, now that sites like Youtube have pushed Flash beyond advertisements and into the mainstream.

I just realized that comment posting wasn't working.  The Captcha plugin (spam prevention) for Drupal that I've been using was rejecting all attempts to create a comment.  It was in image mode, and I switched to math mode, which seems to be working.

I'm very sorry to anyone who typed in a comment only to be rejected.  I know how frustrating that can be.

I'm trying out Flock as my default browser this week. For those that are new to Flock, it is a browser built from Firefox, but focused on adding features for social networking types of activities.  Such as built-in support for editing your blog, or adding photos to services like Flickr.

Overall, I really do like it. I haven't decided whether I'll use it as my primary browser long term. I'm going to give it more time.

Last weekend, I switched the website from Plone to Drupal.  I know some people are contemplating this switch, so I thought I'd write about my experience so far.

Okay, this is driving me nuts.  Many podcasters don't use consistent tags.  Their various episodes all have different tags for Artist, Album, and Genre.  If I find a pocast I like and download the past year's worth of podcasts, they are all scattered throughout my MP3 player and I have a terrible time finding them all buried among my 5000 tracks of music.

I hope you are ready for the next type of in-your-face Internet advertising. I've been noticing a new trend among websites. For websites with just about any kind of content, they have begun to link words in the content to products as a form of advertising.

I've noticed many web authors puting their Cascading Style Sheets straight into the header of a page. Folks, that's bad! There are many benefits to moving style data out of the body of your html and into CSS, and one of them gets lost when the CSS is placed in the header.

I've been pleased since I put my weblog up a short time ago with all the responses I've had from the community. Nearly all positive. That's why I keep all my contact information in the footer of my website. I love talking with all the amazing people in the world. I knew it couldn't last forever. Thursday night I was sitting in my back yard partying with a bunch of friends when I started getting instant messages on my Sidekick. It went something like this:

Random Stranger> "Nice job ripping off other websites you <bleepin> moron."

Doing some blog exploring today, I was brought to the sad realization that I'm a FontBitch. I swear it wasn't intentional, though I admit I usually use styles in true font point sizes, "font-size: 10pt". Now I know why that's a bad thing. I'll put it somewhere (at the bottom) on my list of my 1000 useless things I'll never get around to fixing.
